Travel by bus From Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang

TOUR DESCRIPTION

You will be picked up at 9:00 am from your Chiang Mai accommodation for the 5-hour drive to Chiang Kong. On route, the bus will stop at Wat Rong Khun (White Temple) for a 20-minute break from the driving before continuing on to Chiang Kong. At Chiang Kong you will be dropped at The Thai Immigration post for processing out of Thailand, we will then cross to Huay Xai on the Laos side where you will be processed by the Lao Immigration authorities, once all immigration formalities are complete you will board the bus for the 12-hour bus ride to Luang Prabang. Transport from Chiang Mai to Chiang Kong will be by minibus and transport from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang will be by big local bus.

Important take note:
This program is not a tour or tour package, it is a transport package and no tour guide is provided. You are required to arrange your own visa (this is available to most nationalities on arrival at the Huay Xai border post and there is no need to make advance arrangements). No visa fees are included or visa help is provided. Travel time is around 18 hours but due to local road conditions in Laos, this bus service can be many hours late. Please allow for this with your onward planning.
