A two-hour hike through this breathtaking national park will take you through natural forests, cascading waterfalls, and a look at how native Karen farmers manage the land for rice, vegetables, and coffee, which you can sample in the village.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

You'll need to get up early, especially if you want to see the Saturday buffalo market in Sanpatong! We'll leave Chiang Mai and make a stop at the weekly Sanpatong Buffalo Market (if you're doing the tour on a Saturday). This is a once-weekly livestock market where buffaloes and other livestock are traded. On this morning, a big local market rises up around this agricultural livestock market, offering a variety of local products and delicacies to the hungry market attendees. The Wachiritharn Waterfall will be your first stop in Doi Inthanon National Park, followed by the beginning of the Mae Klang Luang trail. This trek will take you away from the usual tourist route and give you a unique perspective of this magnificent national park. Before reaching the river, the track will first take a wooded route downhill. You'll be following the river for a while. The route will pass Pa Dok Siew Waterfall, where you may cool down by taking a swim in the cool waters at the foot. The route will eventually go to an agricultural area surrounding Mae Klang Luang Karen village. Coffee bushes and rice paddies may be seen. We'll stop at a small coffee shop, where they roast, manually grind, and prepare freshly brewed coffee from the nearby hills. Then it'll be time for lunch. Lunch will be served in a local Karen restaurant, after which you will board the minibus to tour some of Inthanon's other popular attractions. The two beautiful king and queen pagodas will be seen near the summit of the mountain, and you will be able to take in the sights from this high vantage point. You will explore the Angkha Nature Trail (400m short walk) on the highest part of Doi Inthanon, Thailand's tallest mountain, where you will observe a rare diversity of flora that only grows at this high altitude.

If you have not already seen enough waterfalls you can take the option to see Mae Ya which is Doi Inthanon’s biggest falls (However the part authorities does close this waterfall in the wet season months as a safety precaution against water surges after heavy rainfall)

Note: A good level of fitness will be required to complete the trek. The trek involves walking up and down steep paths and along jungle tracks. This trek will not be suitable for the elderly.
