An early start will allow you to join the morning alms giving to the city's monks. This tour also includes visits to Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai's most renowned temple, as well as a local market and other well-known old city temples.
TOUR DESCRIPTION
Prepare to get up early since we'll need to catch the monks on their alms rounds early in the morning. Our guide will walk you through the steps of giving alms to the city's monks as they collect money alms from the locals as they make their way through the old city. Following the almsgiving, we'll go west of the city on a windy mountain road to Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai's most famous temple. You'll be able to admire this temple in the cooler morning air, away from the throng of the daytime visitors. The splendor of the numerous golden Buddha statues and the spectacular golden stupa may be found at this mountain temple. If the weather permits, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the city and beyond. We'll return down the mountain after Doi Suthep to have a Thai-style breakfast at a local eatery. Later in the morning, we'll visit Wat Chedi Luang, which has one of the city's largest and most spectacular stupas, and Wat Sri Suphan, which is located in the heart of the city's silver-making district on Wualia Rd. The Warorot Market (also known locally as Kad Luang) will be our final destination of the day. This commercial area has been home to market trade for hundreds of years. Among the multitude of things for sale, fresh and dried food items of all kinds are popular purchases at the market stalls. You may be ready to be returned to your hotel because you were awake so early; but, if you would want to extend your trip into the afternoon, we may organize a visit to the Chiang Mai Art and Culture Museum. This freshly renovated museum features a number of exhibits that depict the traditional Lanna way of life.
