TOUR DESCRIPTION

Discover Chiang Rai, Thailand's most picturesque region, as well as the renowned Golden Triangle, which unites Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. We will pick you up from your Chiang Mai hotel and take you to your first destination, the Maekhajan hot springs, where you can enjoy your first cup of coffee of the day. After a little rest, we'll travel through the mountains to Chiang Rai, where we'll see the magnificent Wat Rong Khun, popularly known as The White Temple. Chiang Saen, on the banks of the famed Mekong River, will be the next destination. Chiang Saen was a major city in the Lanna Kingdom at one time. There are several remaining old structures in this region, as well as various Buddha statues. You'll go to Wat Chedi Luang, one of the better-preserved old temples in the area. We'll next go to the Golden Triangle, the meeting point of Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos, where you may join a boat trip on the Mekong River to the Laotian island of Don Xao. Following that, the trip will go to Mae Sai. This Thai town, which shares a border with Myanmar, is a great area to go shopping; you'll discover dry foodstuffs, local products from both Myanmar and Thailand as well as goods that make their way here from China. You can see Tachilek, Myanmar, from Mae Sai, which is only 15 meters across the river. We offer the option of crossing the border to the Myanmar town of Tachilek for a quick glimpse and extra shopping to those who are feeling adventurous. We can organize a visit to the Long Neck village on the way back to Chiang Mai.Note: A passport is required if you wish to enjoy the boat ride across the Mekong to Laos and/or cross into Burma. Please bring yours if you think you might be interested in these options.

Tour Transport

We only employ safe careful drivers and use the most modern and comfortable air-conditioned transport. We will provide transport dependent on your group size as follows:

	Group size 1-2 persons: Modern air-conditioned car Toyota Vios or similar.
	Group size 3-9 persons: Modern Toyota Commuter minibus - 9 passenger seat format
	Group size 10-12 persons: Modern Toyota Commuter minibus - 12 passenger seat format
	Group size 13 + persons: We can either use multiple minibusses or a full-sized passenger coach in a 24, 32, or 40 seat format.
Please note during peak holiday periods we often need to contract vehicles to meet the high demand. Occasionally the make and model will be different from that described above but we do ensure all contracted vehicles offer the same comfort and safety level.

Group

This is a privately escorted tour and will be arranged just for you and your group of friends, family members, or work colleagues. You will not join others and will be provided with your own private vehicle, driver, and tour guide. We can cater to groups of any size.

Guides

A Tourist Authority of Thailand licensed and English-speaking guide is provided. Your guide will not be driving the vehicle.

Crossing to Laos

On this tour, we can arrange a short crossing by boat across the Mekong to the small Laos settlement of Don Xao. In Don Xao there is a small tourist market where some Laos souvenirs and goods can be found. A passport will be required if you want to take the Mekong boat trip to the Laos island of Don Xao (previously a passport was not required) Please bring your passport if you want to do this option. Please also note that no exit or entry visas will be stamped in your passport and if you do cross onto the island of Don Xao your Thai visa will be unaffected.

Crossing to Myanmar

On this tour, we can arrange a short crossing into Myanmar from the Thai town of Mae Sai. On the Burmese side, there is a bustling border market where you can spend 30-45 minutes. For the crossing, you will require your passport and a Burmese visa which is available at the Burmese immigration post and can be obtained on the day (the current price is 500 baht/person). Please note that if you do cross into Burma your current Thai visa will be canceled. On crossing back to Thailand you will be stamped with a 15-day visa only. Please ensure that 15 days is enough to cover the rest of your holiday plans in Thailand.

Meals

This is a Full day tour and lunch will be provided. Please let us know in advance if you require vegetarian food.

Insurance

Accident insurance is provided to cover medical bills up to a maximum amount of 1,000,000 baht.

Pick up and drop off

Free pick up and drop off is included to and from any Chiang Mai city hotel. As this is a privately escorted tour we can pick up and drop off at out-of-town resorts. There may be an extra charged levied for pick up and drop off at outlying establishments. We can notify you of any extra charges before we request any payments.

What to wear

You are touring in a hot climate wear comfortable cool attire. Shorts and t-shirt or similar clothing are good for this tour. Rain is possible at any time of the year but more likely during the rainy season months of May to October - bring a lightweight raincoat during these months. There are only short brief walks on this tour and sandal-type footwear is OK.

Dress for temple visits

On this tour, you will be visiting Buddhist temples. Respectful dress is always appreciated. For dress we suggest the following:
Please wear a shirt which covers the shoulders and reaches the waist (a t-shirt will be fine!) For leg wear, at least knee-length shorts or skirts should be worn.
